A Lifetime in Harmony: Lucy’s Extraordinary Musical Journey
Lucy Cartano has been singing her entire life, beginning with Sweet Adelines 55 years ago in Chicago. After moving to California, she joined a 90-voice chorus in Oxnard, performing at Carnegie Hall.
Joann Willet more than 30 years ago, started withPacific Belles Chorus . Passionate by barbershop music she did not let the lack of access to 4 part songs arranged for women hold her down. Pacific Belles used to sing men arrangements and rock it! Time has passed, things have changed, but we are all still thankful for her initiative and to the inspiration and knowledge that all music directors from then and now give to us.

Harmony by the Pacific Ocean
Sweet Adelines International was founded in 1945 by a group of women — led by Edna Mae Anderson — who shared a passion for barbershop harmony. What started as a small gathering in Oklahoma soon blossomed into a global organization. Today, Sweet Adelines choruses around the world are celebrated for their four-part a cappella harmony, musical excellence, and uplifting community of women singers. The Pacific Belles Chorus is proud to carry on this legacy.
