The Pacific Belles Chorus
of
Sweet Adelines International
Welcome to our Web Site!
We are The Pacific Belles, a women's 4-part acapella chorus located in Escondido, California. We are a Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, and part of the Golden West Region 21 of SAI.
So What are The Pacific Belles and Sweet Adelines all ABOUT?
We Pacific Belles are an active, industrious, high-spirited and creative group of women, from a wide range of backgrounds and ages. Just like our harmony, we all have different parts to play, different talents and levels of experience. But when it all comes together, we make a beautiful sound!
As a performing arts organization, and as Sweet Adelines, our mission is to perform and preserve the American art form of women's barbershop-style harmony -- tight, beautiful acapella harmony. We are committed to musical excellence through skill development, competition, performance, education, and youth mentoring. Most of all, we strive to provide an avenue for extraordinary “ordinary” women to do things they have never done before, to develop talents they didn’t know they had, and to bring joy and harmony to the lives of everyone we touch in our community.
And Just What do The Pacific Belles DO??
Well, first, we rehearse! We have two new Co-Directors, Lucy Cartano and Neva Chamberlain, both of whom have many years of women's barbershop expertise as singers and directors. Lucy and Neva energetically lead us through weekly rehearsals and our performances, as we work to get better and better at the hobby we love.
Next, we perform! We engage in a variety of musical activities throughout our chorus year. We enjoy performing for local community groups and events of all kinds. We produce several shows each year, typically including our annual Holiday Show, a summer/Flag Day Show, and sometimes a Fall Tea/Show. In April 2011 we participated in our Regional SAI competition in Pasadena, and we look forward to taking part in many more Regional and International competitions and events.
Also - we educate! We award a musical scholarship each Spring, to further the musical talents and education of young people. Reaching out to young people is one of our key goals.
Whew !! We are a busy bunch of women.
Above all, we sing, sing, sing.......Real Women.....Real Harmony........having Real FUN!
All women who enjoy singing are welcome to come visit us. We rehearse each Monday night (except holidays) at 7:00 pm, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 845 Chestnut St. at Ninth Ave., Escondido.
